Five Sentence Fiction – Limitless

The Five Sentence Fiction is a simple idea: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week I will post a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word. The word does not have to appear in your five sentences, just use it for direction.

This week, Lillie chose the word "Limitless," which is how recent graduates often feel.

The fire in her heart was matched by the breadth of her ambition.
She wanted to change the world, and would stop at nothing to do just that.
But the world is harsh, and people resistant.
However she planned to set a-light each person to make a change.
Just as one person can cause untold destruction, likewise one can influence generations to come.

Five Sentence Fiction – Wisdom

The Five Sentence Fiction is a simple idea: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week I will post a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word. The word does not have to appear in your five sentences, just use it for direction.

This week, Lillie chose the word "Wisdom," and wisdom can come from many sources.
***
Aged beyond measure, she sat in lotus position on top of the mountain; long had she waited for those seeking guidance, for to give assistance is a sacred commitment.
Many came: some wanted glory, some wealth, some a simple answer to a complex spiritual puzzle, and others came to test her...to see if she was the guru about whom they had heard much but understood little.
But she was no fool, and in her silent vigil she also kept a loaded gun, just in case.
"After all, wisdom," she would say, "does not always come in the form of meditation and ancient books."
"I learned that particular novelty from Han Solo...'Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.'"

Five Sentence Fiction – Locked

This week, Lillie chose the word "Locked."

The sword opened him like a key fitting into a lock, and his chest spilled precious treasure.
There was no time to scream, no chance to avoid the blow, only time enough to gasp, wide-eyed and terror filled as the blade drank deep.
"Hush now, child," he heard, "Sleep, this will be over soon."
He could feel the flow of vital essence drain down his leg and from there pool on the ground.
"Mother..." he prayed in whisper as he collapsed and slipped from the steel, toppling over he kissed his own grave with full force.

Five Sentence Fiction – Flight

The Five Sentence Fiction is a simple idea: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week I will post a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word. The word does not have to appear in your five sentences, just use it for direction.

This week, Lillie chose the word "Flight," and I went off the deep end a little.
***
I see the birds up in the sky and I wonder why
The wings they wear on the wind don't come in my size
Oh! to soar up in the air with freedom and no cares
But I'm stuck down here in the filth and the dirty air
If I had them, I'd give my wings to another man; call me crazy, but that's just how I am....
